Parah Adumah Walking Tour

Secrets of the Parah Adumah Walking Tour

Parah Adumah Walking TourThe Parah Adumah or “Red Heifer” has been in the news a lot lately due to the announcement by the Temple Institute that they have succeeded in breeding a kosher Parah Adumah. This week’s Torah portion of Chukat also begins with the Mitzvah of the Parah Adumah.

Join me on Friday, June 27th 2014 for a fascinating walking tour focusing on the Parah Adumah and the Beit Hamikdash!

Itinerary:

  • Meet at 9:00 am at the Rehavam Observation Point near the Seven Arches Hotel on the Mt. of Olives. (Best to arrive by cab as parking is difficult.)

  • Walk down the Mt. of Olives to the courtyard of the Dominus Flevit Church which is built on the site where the Parah Adumah was prepared. View of the Temple Mt. and the Sha’ar HaRachamim Gate through which the Parah Adumah was brought out on a bridge to the Mt. of Olives.
  • Enter the Old City via the Lion’s Gate to visit the Al Omriya school which stands just above the Temple Mount. This is as close as you can get to the Temple Mount without requiring special Halachic preparation.
  • Time permitting we will stop at the Kotel HaKatan which is almost directly opposite the Kodesh Hakodashim for a short opportunity to say Tehillim.
  • Finally we will have a full tour of the Temple Institute (entrance fee included in the price of the tour).
  • Finish around 1 PM in the Jewish Quarter
