Should I cancel my trip to Israel? Update
The other day I wrote an article explaining why I don’t believe people should cancel their trips to Israel despite the current security situation. If you haven’t read it, take a look there first.
Since the end of Shabbat, I’ve got a few emails from people asking me if I have changed my opinion since a couple of rockets have hit the Jerusalem and Tel Aviv areas.
Here is what I have been writing them:
The only thing that has changed since I wrote the article is that a handful of rockets have reached the greater Tel Aviv and Jerusalem areas.
While this is a disturbing development, it doesn’t change my overall assessment of the situation. The statistical odds of being injured by a rocket anywhere outside of the southern coastal region are far less than the odds of getting killed in a car accident every time you drive.
Of course, it is important to keep abreast of the situation and check the news regularly for developments. But assuming you do that, there is no reason whatsoever not to carry on your visit as planned, avoiding the areas where the concentration of the rockets are.
