Painted Tefillin

A Tour of the Tefillin Factory in Meah Shearim

A visit to the Tefillin factory in Meah Shearim is a really great experience that you shouldn’t pass up on your visit to Israel. It’s especially nice to do if you are visiting Israel as part of a Bar Mitzvah Tour! Many people put on Tefillin their entire life, yet have very little idea of how they are made. Touring the factory where they make Tefillin is something that you will remember your entire life!

You may not know, but besides being an Israel Tour Guide, I am also a certified Torah scribe. When I’m not doing tours, I’m usually busy writing Torah scrolls, Mezuzahs or Tefillin.

I’ve had a few orders for Tefillin over the last weeks. In addition to writing the scrolls, I go to the Batim factory to pick out boxes for each pair of Tefillin that I write. Today I had to stop by the Batim factory in Meah Shearim to pick up three sets of Tefillin boxes. I thought I’d take the opportunity to get some pictures. Enjoy!
