In The Footsteps of our Jewish Heroes

Walk in the footsteps of our Jewish Heroes from the times of the Maccabim to the modern day IDF !

Join us on Thursday of Chanukah for a full day of family fun. We’ll climb through caves of our ancestors in the times of Bar Kochba, practice our hands at slinging at the actual battlefield of David and Goliath, visit the burial site of Shmuel Hanavi – the staging ground of one of the Battles of Chanukah, climb on tanks from War of Independence and ascend the observation tower at Har Adar.

Itinerary

  • Meet outside of Cinema City at 10 AM
  • Bar Kochba Caves – During the Bar Kochba Revolt, the Jews dug caves and tunnels into the soft chalk rock under their houses. They used them as a place to store food and weapons for the revolt. When the revolt was finally put down. Many people hid in these caves for months before they were discovered.
  • Battlefield of David and Goliath – The Tanach tells us that the famous battle of David and Goliath took place between Azekah and Socho. Tel Azekah is located in British Park. From atop the Tel, you can see the Valley of Elah where the battle took place. You can just picture Goliath coming out to the battle field and challenging the Jews on the hill above to come down and fight.
  • Lunch break at the Food Court at Big in Bet Shemesh (Many Mehadrin options to choose from)
  • Har Adar – Also named Radar Hill, is the memorial site for the Harel Brigade and site of important battles in the War of Independence and 6 Day War. The observation tower on top of the hill, offers one of the most spectacular views of the Jerusalem mountains. Combat vehicles and tanks that took part in the battles for Jerusalem are located at the foot of the tower.
  • Kever of Shmuel Hanavi – The burial site of Shmuel Hanavi. It’s also where the Macabees staged on of their Battles.
  • Return to Cinema City at 4:30 PM

What to bring

  • Water
  • Baby carrier. Many parts of this tour are not accessible by stroller.
  • Snacks
  • Flashlights
  • Lunch break will be at the Big Mall in Bet Shemesh

Payment

$99 per adult, $79 per child (ages 4-18), $50 per baby (ages 0-3) includes bus and all entrance fees.
