The New Tour

Important Update – April 21 – 16:05

The Samaritan Community Board has just publicized a last minute decision prohibiting non Samaritans from attending the sacrifice this year out of concerns about Corona Virus. Unfortunately this means that we won’t be able to attend the Sacrifice this year.

I am putting together an alternate tour in the area for the same day. If you have already booked, you have your choice of joining the new tour, or receiving a full refund. More details to follow soon.

The Samaritan Passover Sacrifice Sunday April 25th, 2021

The Samaritans, or “Shomronim,” have been living in the Shomron for thousands of years, where they still practice many ancient rites from the Torah, including the Passover Sacrifice.

The Samaritans have their own ritual calendar. This year, their Passover is a full month after the Jewish Passover. This gives us a unique opportunity to witness this ancient ceremony which has taken place on Mt. Gerizim for thousands of years!

Join us for a full day tour focused on the Samaritans. The tour includes:

  • Hear from a member of the Samaritan community
  • Visit the Samaritan Museum
  • Tour the ruins of the Samaritan Temple on Mt. Gerizim
  • See a view of Joseph’s Tomb from above
  • Witness the Samaritan Passover Sacrifice

Important Details

This is a full day, 11 hour tour. Thousands of people come to observe the Samaritan Passover. Experience has taught us that after 1 PM, it becomes very difficult to get to Mt. Gerizim. For this reason we have devised a tour that allows our bus to get us to Mt Gerizim early. We spend the first part of the day touring the sites and learning about the Samaritans. Then we break for a late lunch. Then we attend the Sacrifice in the late afternoon.

The tour is in English.

There will be NO FOOD available for purchase the entire day since the Samaritan owned shops will all be closed. Bring a backpack with enough food for the entire day.

This tour includes a lot of walking. We will be on foot most of the day with little shade. Bring a sun hat and large water bottle. This tour may not be appropriate for those with mobility issues.

Meeting Place

The bus leaves Jerusalem at 11 am from outside Discount Bank at Cinema City.

Returns around 10 pm.

Please keep in mind there may be last minute changes in the itinerary based on any instructions by the IDF. We will do our absolute best to give you the best and fullest experience possible while following the army’s instructions.

Payment

$99 per person includes bus and all entrance fees. Discounts for couples and groups are already integrated into the payment form.

The form only works with international credit cards. If you have an Israel only card, email me at aaron@tourguideaaron.com, and I’ll send you a payment link via Bit or PayPal.

For questions, please call Aaron at 0527242256, or email at shaffier@gmail.com .
